Welcome to the Science Department

Our aim at Limehurst Academy is to build on the success of the Science skills developed at primary school and to provide pupils excellent grounding in the three key areas of Science: Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

This is achieved working through a series of units in years 7 and 8 that impart key parts of the Science curriculum.  We have found that breaking the curriculum down into smaller units, with an emphasis on practical work, helps to maintain the pupils focus, grounds the facts in the real world, and also achieves fantastic results.

In year 9 we then switch focus to GCSE and introduce key ideas and skills that will be of great benefit to pupils when they reach years 10 and 11 and prepare to sit their final exams.
